Captain Geek's Page o' Stuff Sunday, September 05, 2004: Well, Friday, the transaction was completed. I got Galactus. For those of you NOT keeping track of this storyline, Galactus was this year's special available-only-at-conventions supersized HeroClix figure. He's big. He's heavy. He's 1800 points at full power. He's mine to command. And it only cost me $105. If you got lucky enough to get a winning raffle ticket for the opportunity to buy him from WizKids, he was only $75. The lowest I've seen him go for from dealers at cons is $225. So I got a bargain. The guy I bought him from gave me a deal. He had heard I wanted one. So he got a ticket and got lucky. He also bought enough other stuff to get the other special figures, Silver Surfer and Invisible Woman. All he asked from me was that I pay for what he bought. And he gave me the Silver Surfer and Invisible Woman too. Plus what he bought (four unopened DC Unleashed boosters.) The Silver Surfer and Invisible Woman have already gone to a friend. Now he owes me two uniques. I figured since SS and IW were going for $50 each, getting two uniques for each was fair. And I already owed him for one unique and he gave me one yesterday. I also pulled two Uniques from the Boosters, the Bat Sentry from Kingdom Come and the General. I needed the General, but the Bat Sentry is trade bait. But I know someone who might want it. I also picked up Heroes and Monsters: The Unofficial Companion to the League of Extraordinary Gentlemen. No, not the movie. Alan Moore and Kevin O'Neil, sick and twisted individuals that they are, put a lot of Easter Eggs in the comics. Jess Revins, being even more sick and twisted, has put together a reference book on them. Well, this book only covers the first mini-series. Jess started this online just for fun. That's why he's sick and twisted. No one's paid him for this until now. But, it has inspired me. I now want to run my Uber-Champions campaign. The one were all the heroes and villains from the pulps until now lived and fought. I'm working on consolidating everything and coming up with the Campaign Bible. Plus, it gives me something to keep my mind off of being depressed about not having a job yet. I know that's going to change soon, but until it does, I have my geekiness to keep me occupied. 8-) Steve // 8:49 AM ______________________ Comments: Post a Comment
